Aspen X/C Ski with Eileen

This was one of the early “dates” with Eileen.  Aspen was somewhat unspoiled and off the beaten track back then.  You could still live there and not be Chris Evert.  I’m not sure which road we took in.  Might have been Maroon Creek. The trailhead was out of Aspen to the West, not very far, the trail ran south towards Maroon Bells.   We were in a wide valley, with the ground rising up on either side but not all that high or jagged, so it was “interesting” to come across an avalanche across the trail that was 20′ high.

Spencer Heights X/C 1981 (?), then other misc X/C photos (more ?)

Among other outings shown here is Spencer Heights, up the Poudre and no longer in existence.  Very rough log cabin accommodations and easily the smelliest outhouse I’ve ever experienced. And this at 10 below zero.  How can something smell that bad at 10 below?  The leaky cabins had no heat except for a wood burning stove.  The beds were atrocious.  The hot tub was great, altho we were all glad it was dark and we really couldn’t see what we were getting in to.

What follows is hard to date. 3-4 different times and locations.
